In-N-Out Stinks!

In-N-Out Burger stinks ... literally. This evening, I just noticed that I can smell the In-N-Out Burger in Davis while on 80. The fast food joint is approximately 500 feet from the freeway, damn! The restaurant is getting its grill on tonight.

Interestingly, this is not the only In-N-Out that stinks. The In-N-Out on Del Paso Road blasts the grill exhaust too, because I can smell it as I drive by most every evening. The other fast food places do not stink, what is the problem?

Is this a new form of advertising? Whatever it is, In-N-Out stinks. The burgers are okay, but I would choose a Carl's Junior burger instead of an In-N-Out Burger 9 out of 10 times. Hey, Row Bear still has not posted the top 10 burger joints. Wassup?

Where are my logos?

What is it with freelance graphic designers? They start off with enthusiasm and passion, but eventually turn to crap. I cannot count the amount of money I have lost due to freelancers over the past year. One designer owes me two logos, but is nowhere to be found.

The bad part is that I paid him in advance, so he would be assured that I was interested in hiring him. Well, never again. I will never pay for any freelance services in advance. I think I will file a claim with PayPal to get the money back. Dammit!

Monk Skills?

Today, I spent most of the afternoon setting up a development environment on a laptop. I installed VS2k5, IIS, SQL, and TypeMock. The computer is a client issued item, so I need to be careful not to make too many changes or customize the crap out of it.

I should note the Program Files folder is a mess. Folder names in lowercase, uppercase, and mixed case. The Start Menu and Desktop are littered with useless junk. I hesitate to think this is a corporate image, argh!

In contrast, my Desktop, Start Menu, and Program Files folders are clean. Note the folders are in Proper Case with version numbers as needed. No slop here, just took a minute to do it right. The balance of the file system is the same.

Also, why do people use the standard installation option when installing software? If it has a custom installation option, I select it each time. I can choose not to install items that I will never use and save a little disk space at the same time.

TFS References

Anyone know a quick way of gathering references for a series of projects? I need to provide a report to the TFS admin of all of our solutions references so we can batch install all the needed assemblies(eg. Office Interop).

Freedom of Choice?

It must be an election year, because the f*cktard politicians are on a rampage. For example Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear is attempting to seize 100+ gambling domains by force to protect "his" state and its citizens. What happened to freedom of choice asshole?

The citizens of the State of Kentucky have the right to choose where and how they spend their money. If it is on non-US or non-Kentucky based gambling sites, it is their choice and NOT yours! What's next on your "agenda" dumbass?

TFS file looks checked out by someone else

We recently noticed on our project that some of our source files were displaying as checked out by someone else using the person icon instead of the padlock when it was in fact not checked out by someone else. This is a bug in TFS which is due to Shelvesets. If you have a shelveset, TFS will marked any of the file within it was checked out. However when you try and view pending changes on the file, you will see nothing.

Baile de Lechero

What the heck is Baile de Lechero? The definition of Baile de Lechero is Milkman dance. It is the Spanish translation and what does this have to do with anything here? I am glad that you asked, because I came up with another idea while chatting with Sum Yum.

I will solicit Milkman dance videos from the International communities. Yup! Milkman dance from India, Mexico, Germany, Russia, China, Japan, etc. It could become a dance craze just like Soulja Boy. Whoop, whoop!

Why I despise Guitar Hero: World Tour

I love me some video games. If I had things my way, I'd play them all month long and likely never be bored of them. I considered myself an aficionado of sorts when it comes to these games and its one of the few topic I like expressing opinions about.  Just three weeks ago, I had mentioned to a friend that I would be picking up Rock Band 2 and the new Guitar Hero: World Tour. The new GH game will be featuring all the same instruments as Rock band and since all the controllers are now cross compatible I thought it would be cool to play both games. However, Guitar Hero's publisher, Activision Blizzard, keeps putting their foot in their mouth. Their love for dollars and their ability to express how much they love money is uncanny. I discounted the new instrument gaffe as a small exageration. I found the DLC (downloadable content) subscription to be an intriguing twist to their existing business model. I regarded their boasting of increased music sells to the purchase of a successful franchise. But after all that, they just keep shoving it in my face. Why do you need a new game for every band? How many damn Aerosmith songs can you play in a row before it gets old? Do we really need Guitar Hero: Metallica or Guitar Hero: Hendrix? Give me a break.
