Another loser
Okay, I have ranted in the past about freelance designers. Well, I am going to call the bank and reverse three charges because a particular designer has decided not to complete the work he was hired to perform. Loser!
As soon as I call the bank and file the PayPal claims, I am going to post his name and emails for all to read. I am tired of these lazy designers. I am not implying that all suck, because I am working with another designer that is great.
AmX Ninja Card
Sum Yum Do was at the drive thru at the Carls Jr on sheldon tonight. Sum Yum Do ordered a pretty good taco salad; not that Sum Yum Do needed to start eating salad. The drive thru cashier, a pretty cute girl, asked Sum Yum Do for $4.57. Sum Yum Do gave Cute Girl a pretty sexy $50.00 bill. Cute Girl asked Sum Yum Do, do you have any smaller bills? Sum Yum Do just decided to charge the taco salad instead because Sum Yum Do don't like to count change, even if its only $4.57. When Sum Yum Do reach into his wallet and about to hand it over to Cute Girl, the AmX, with 3% cash back for dinning, flew like a ninja star right towards Cute Girl's face with the speed of light and with stealth. Forunately for Cute Girl, Sum Yum Do ninja power was weaken because half hour before Sum Yum Do was practicing his kung fu fighting skills, so the AmX Ninja Card didn't have the normal power. The AmX Ninja Card flew short and curved down hiting Cute Girl right shoulder. Sum Yum Do apologized to Cute Girl and told Cute Girl her awesome Cuteness will get her killed.
The moral of this story is,. If you are a Cute Girl, don't ask Sum Yum Do for smaller bills because Sum Yum Do don't like to count smaller bills or coins,. Doing so will risk being struck by Sum Yum Do's AmX Ninja Card with the 3% cash back for dinning and Gas, 2% for traveling and 1% for everything else, including at Costco. =P
Go Mario!
Another gem from YouTube! If you are a gamer, you undoubtedly know Mario of Nintendo fame. Well, here is a real life Mario for your viewing pleasure. I like the part where the car is dodging the bananas, ha!
I Got Carded!
What the heck is right! I stopped by GameStop to pickup a Christmas gift and I got carded. The cashier told me that it was store policy to check IDs. Needless to say, I thought it was odd considering I was purchasing a game with a Mature (17 years +) rating.
Blog De-Friending
I just read an article on mashable.com regarding social network de-friending. Have you ever de-friended anyone? I think I just de-friended several people thus the post. I deleted users that have never posted on wassupjose.com.
Did I de-friend the authors by deleting their accounts? I do not believe so, but it made me think about it for a couple of minutes. I do recall de-friending two from the IM buddy list, any guesses? Their last names start with the same letter.
Oracle NUMBER(P,S) data type
When using the Oracle NUMBER type its important to know that if you don't specify the precision and the type Oracle will store this as a floating point type. Although, it may seem intuitive that number would mean integer this is not the case. In fact this number will accurately hold LESS data than an integer type. That's because floating type is used to store really really big numbers and uses a logarithmic algorithm to retrieve your value for you. Essentially it will store up to SEVEN SIGNIFICANT digits and then run some math against that value. That means if you use this variable to store primary keys after 7 digits you'll start getting duplicate value in your table, which will cause your application to bomb out.
Let's say you have a number 1234567890 and you store this to Oracle as a NUMBER(aka floating point). Oracle will store this number as 1.234567 x 10^9. Thus losing the accuracy of your data. When you retrieve this value it will be 1234567000. Depending on the use of that data, this could be bad news.
Anniversary Update
I got the 4-1-1 on the anniversary issue. Although we have posts dating back to November 2007, all of the November posts were back dated to coincide with the week of the Theme of the Week.
I checked the timestamps and have determined that the first post on wassupjose.com was on December 24, 2007. So, with that said we are just three weeks away from our one year anniversary. Nice!
It’s About Time …
After many months of crappy AT&T DSL, I upgraded to AT&T U-Verse products. The speed does not compare to the Comcast service I had in the past, but it beats the slowsky 1.5mb DSL service by a mile!
The router constantly reset itself leaving me with no internet access. Imagine downloads, page transitions, and email stopping abruptly due to the unreliable service. And to think I paid full retail price for this junk.

Don’t get confused
I found this gem of a comment in some code I'm converting:
'totalBlankINvalidRec ONLY includes Invalid Procedures. Don't get confused by the variable name.
so using a different variable name to clear this up was obviously out of the question...
