Wassup Jose Weblog nonsense at its best!

Blog Is Worth II

Last September, I posted the estimated worth of wassupjose. The criteria used to evaluate worth is worthless (pun intended), but it is good for a laugh. Just like the site running out of user connections, nice one.

Back to the current estimated worth of the blog. It appears that the estimated worth has gone up in the past 6 months. Drum roll please! The current estimated worth is now 189.80 USD. It must be accurate, since it estimated the cents too.

By the way, the daily page views are wrong. The blog is averaging about 500 page views per day and where did they get the daily ads revenue number? There are no advertisements on this blog. Like I said, the criteria are bogus and good for a laugh. Ha!

Weight Loss Secrets II

I am no diet guru, but I do know that eating anything listed on This Is Why You're Fat is on the "Do not eat list". Also, I am willing to bet that these foods will pack on several pounds and send you straight to the crapper. Pizza lovers, enjoy!

Planes, Trains, & Automobiles

No planes were involved in the making of this story, but the title sounded cool. Anyway, my commute consisted of both automobile and train travel. Yes, BART. I was prepared for a NY style ghetto train, but it was quite the opposite.

The trains and stations are clean, which is nice. Most of the riders were pleasant, but here is the reason for the post. A young kid sat next to me about 5 minutes into the trip. It was obvious he was hitting the pipe before he boarded the train.

I don't know what kind of shit he was smoking, but by the time I got to my destination I had a headache and the munchies. Damn! My clothes smelled like weed and all I needed was for donut patrol to stop me for probable cause (i.e. being brown and drugs). Next!

Take The Trash Out

Ex-Chicago Streets and Sanitation Commissioner, Al Sanchez, is found guilty of fraud. Way to go! Another official gets taken to the cleaners or should I say, "Trash was taken out!" Who is next Chicago?

Al Sanchez was found guilty of fraud -- but he says he doesn't know why. (Ignorance card, nice try).

Max User Connections

I stopped by websiteoutlook.com to check the worth of wassupjose.com. Well, the website had other plans for me. I was greeted with the following error message:

Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: User admin_wo already has more than 'max_user_connections' active connections in /home/admin/domains/websiteoutlook.com/public_html/sql.php on line 2

Warning: mysql_error(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/admin/domains/websiteoutlook.com/public_html/sql.php on line 5
can not connect to database

The interesting part of this post is that the "reported" number of online users was a nudge above 300. Uh, I think we have a problem here. I found this funny, because we had a similar problem on a past project. However, I think the system puked at 20 users. Ha!

Proxy Updates

I am cleaning up loose ends, so I need to let proxy users know that two of the three proxy applications are gone. The proxy at this domain is blocked, so I removed it. The proxy in a "search" subdomain was removed too. Please use the proxy @ k----.com. Thanks.

Winamp YouTube Support

I think adding YouTube support would be a logical next step. It is my understanding Muziic uses the YouTube API, so there is nothing proprietary about their player. I do not know if this is under consideration for Winamp, but if it is Muziic may soon be obsolete.

Muziic Update

I have been using Muziic for a couple days now and not sure I like switching between media players. This is one of the main reasons I used to convert the music to MP3 format, so I can play it locally in Winamp.

Also, this first release has several bugs and quirks. One quirk that I do not like is the volume has only 5-levels of adjustment. I can choose 20% - 100% in 20% intervals with no mute. Also, some videos get stuck and require a restart to replay. More to follow.

IE Smacked Down

Earlier this evening, I setup two new blogs. I plan to monetize the type-in traffic, so I added a handy-dandy plugin to automatically generate content from select feeds. Well, I was using Firefox and kept experiencing issues. What the heck? Okay, let me try IE. Nice!

Turd Polishing

I ran across an article about the six dumbest ideas in computer security. Great article, but out of all of it I found on quote particularly relevent to a past project.

"Let's go production with it now and we can secure it later" - no, you won't. A better question to ask yourself is "If we don't have time to do it correctly now, will we have time to do it over once it's broken?" Sometimes, building a system that is in constant need of repair means you will spend years investing in turd polish because you were unwilling to spend days getting the job done right in the first place.

Ain't that the truth.
