Blockbuster Fails Again

Blockbuster does not give up; it has released another cheesy program. The Summer Escape Pass gives members one week of unlimited movie and game rentals for a low *cough* $10.00 plus tax. Oh, I forgot to mention it is limited to one rental at a time.

Are you kidding me? Netflix's basic unlimited plan is only $8.99 per month. Someone, please tell me how Blockbuster's new pass program is a deal. Four weeks of Blockbuster's program would cost consumers $40.00 plus tax.

For $40.00 a month, consumers can subscribe to Netflix's 3 DVD unlimited plan for $16.99 a month AND GameFly's 2 game plan for $22.95 a month. Total cost is $39.94 a month plus tax for 3 movie and 2 game rentals at one time. Comments?

Sexy Feet (05)

Well, it is time for a quick update regarding the sexy feet site. I have registered a couple of domain names and completed the "draft" ads soliciting for models, but I need to sort out a few items. I may have to start off with a sexy feet links site, until I wrap up loose ends.

As soon as I iron out the photography issues, I will start collecting original content for the site. I must admit, this part concerns me. Easier said than done. I have contacted a couple of amateur photographers to shoot the content, but no responses to date.

Enough of my problems, let's check out another pair of sexy feet. The silver shoes and pink toenail polish are hot! I will post another update this weekend or early next week, so keep checking back.

Escort, Please

On the way home, I encountered a tractor trailer transporting a wide load. It was so wide; the tractor was driving in the middle of two lanes. Traffic had to dodge two lanes of traffic to get around the tractor.

Hmm, I thought to myself "Where the hell is the pilot or escort car?" The traffic can easily see the wide load, but the tractor needs an escort to keep things in check. Well, I looked around and could not find an escort car. Nice job.

I passed the tractor trailer and went about my business. As I was turning onto the North 5 on-ramp, I saw the escort truck hauling too. Hauling ass! It was so far ahead of the tractor that it was totally useless. I hope the tractor driver blew his hair back.

What’s The Point?

I was poking around on Engadget and found a "not so newsworthy" post about a 98-inch TV being flush mounted in the ceiling of a home. What's the big deal? Also, why the hell would I mount a TV on the ceiling? It would be nice to watch in bed, but useless other times.

I assume viewing it would be similar to being in the front row of a movie theater with your head tilted back and sore at the end of the movie. If the mounting was not lame enough, it was nominated for the Home of the Year award. What's the point?

Dropping Domains

I am still trying to sell more than 100 domains, but think I have reached my threshold. If the domains do not sell before it is time to renew, I am going to let them expire and drop. The renewal fees, privacy registrations, and other BS has to go. Check back for a list of names.

WTF Code Candidate

I just stumbled on another WTF code candidate, so I have to post it. Developers, grab some tissue, because it's going to bring tears to your eyes. Yup, it's crappy code but I have seen worse (unbelievable, but true). Btw, the WordPress code tag still sucks!

  • Hard coded connection string [check].
  • Embedded SQL (with *, no less) [check].
  • Useless Try/Catch block [check].
  • Redundant counters and iterators [check].
  • Inconsistent naming scheme [check].
  • Spelling errors [check].
  • Logic errors [check].

Soft Drink Prices

I stopped by the grocery store to pickup the basics (i.e. bread, milk, etc) and coke. 'Cause we all know that my fat butt needs to drink more coke! Good lord, prices are on the rise! I put on my secret shopper hat and collected the comparison data below.

Note that a 2-liter bottle is the cheapest and the 8oz. glass bottles are the most expensive @ 9.4 cents an ounce! Damn! That is 4-5 times more than regular grade gasoline @ 2.78 per gallon. If you buy energy drinks, expect to pay over 15 cents per ounce! Major ripoff.

Kingston 256GB USB Drive

Kingston has released their new 256GB DataTraveler 300 USB Drive. Yup! A whopping 256GB on a stick. I cannot think of a need for such capacity on a USB Drive, but I assume there is a market for it. Check out some possible uses and Kingston's marketing statement:

It can also be used by business consumers who work with large databases (with your credit card information and social security number), or even designers who need to transfer large graphic files (porn collections) from one place to another

The DataTraveler 300 will enable users to carry huge volumes of data with them everywhere they go - up to 365 CDs for example. That’s one album for every day of the year, and it demonstrates how far flash technology has developed

MySpace 1.0

Check out an early version of MySpace. Who would have guessed that this plain looking site would one day grow up to become the number #1 (hmm, number #2) social networking site in the country. If you want to see The Facebook 1.0, visit the Internet Archive. Haha!

I am not alone

As most know, I have completed my long two-year sentence with T-Mobile and am thinking about purchasing an iPhone 3GS. I keep thinking about it, but I have not made the jump to date. Why? That is easy, because AT&T sucks ass. Well, I am not alone. Check it out.
