Name Forgotten

I was on Engadget getting the weekly dose of gadget news and read a story about Packard Bell. Whoa, I have not heard that name in ages. Does anyone recall Packard Bell? It was one of the largest PC brands in the country and then poof it was gone.

If you are a former Packard Bell owner, you know the brand was not a "Best of Breed" but it was a decent starter machine. Check this out! You are going to hear it here first, I had a Packard Bell tower back in the day that I purchased at Sears * cough *.

I still remember walking into Sears and seeing their latest Packard Bell models on display. I had other computers at home, but for some reason I had to have the shiny new PB tower with 15" CRT. Well, I purchased it in 1995 and used it for approx. 3 years. Haha!

Before the iPhone

Recently, I've been complaining about ATT's service and iPHone pricing models. Thus my wife and I have been rethinking keeping the phones active because the lowest price plan is still a little rich for our blood. When I talk to people about my plight I'm often surprised to learn that other people without iPhones are often paying MORE than me. Wow!

I started revaluating the phone itself and tried to think back to when I bought the phone. This recent post sums up my original decision quite well. Of the reasons he lists there are a couple I like best.

3. Carriers dictated phone designs, features, apps, prices, marketing, advertising and branding
7. Affordable, unlimited data plans as standard were unheard of
11. Without Visual Voice Mail, messages couldn’t be managed non-linearly
18. Phones didn’t come with huge 3.5″ touch screens
19. Pervasive multitouch, gesture-based UI was science fiction

These are the prime reasons why I purchased an iPhone in the first place. Apple started moving the technology and mobile scene in the right direction. For that they certainly deserve their due credit. Hell, the iPhone was almost worth it just for the visual voicemail. Why the hell do I have to listen to an entire message before I can escape and delete? *shudder*

Dropping Like Flies

As mentioned previously, I am trying to sell off some of my domains. Well, I have listed them on Sedo but no offers to date. I do not want to pay extra to feature the domain names, so I am going to let them expire and drop from the registry.

I just checked my account and 10 domains have expired and are in a "recoverable" state. I am going to let them drop and save the money I would have spent on renewals. If I did want the domains back, I would never pay $90 each to recover the names. Gone!

Trillian Users

If you're using Trillian 3.1 with Yahoo! connections, you may have received the IM below. It appears Yahoo! has updated their IM protocol thus kicking Trillian Basic 3.1 users and other multi-protocol IM clients, which support the old Yahoo! protocol, to the curb.

I downloaded version 3.1.13.0, but it is an older patch that fixes an ICQ connection issue. I searched the Cerulean site, but I think Trillian Basic 3.1 users are shit out of luck. You can either upgrade to Trillian Astra or find another multi-protocol client.

Online Chat Nonsense

I was viewing various PPV replay videos and came across a website with a live chat plugin. I could not close or hide this specific chat box, so I tried to ignore the non-sense scrolling across the chat window and watch the video.

As you can image, it was tough watching the video with a big ass chat window placed next to the video. Okay, what the heck are these people chatting about? Same old thing, people taking shit about each other and spammers trying to promote their crap.

Ya know, people say some crazy stuff in anonymous chat settings. I was not going to publish this post, but the following one liner is classic. I was LMAO when I read it. The user made a comment about Jenna Jameson and her "tightness". Visual anyone?

LMAO

TGI Friday

TGIF and I am not referring to the restaurant. These past four days were the longest that I can remember, but I am glad that it is Friday! I was hoping to wrap up by 6:00pm, so I could enjoy the long weekend. Unfortunately, plans never seem to work out as planned.

I am picking up pieces dropped by other project team members! Something I have realized is that I HATE fixing other peoples crap. I also hate when people drop shit on ones plate at 5:00pm and expect it to be completed the same day.

YouTube Store

The number one video site in the galaxy may soon sell and rent movies. This deal might be the break Google needs to make some dough off of YouTube. There are other companies already selling and renting movies on the web, so what can YouTube offer?

I do not know, but competition in the online movies market is always welcome. Consumers need choices and it keeps the greedy mofos in check. I can see YouTube taking a bite out of the market and stomping on current players. Nice, I will try it if it pans out.

Twitter Adult Services

Haha! I knew that Twitter was slowing becoming a haven for spammers, porn, and all walks of life. Well, check it out. I read an article that claims hookers are using Twitter to "pimp" their wares. "Hey baby, you can follow me for 2 Benjamins." Bruahaha!

I have to give credit to the ladies, because they are stepping their games up and using the Internet and social platforms to promote their services like everyone else. Move over White House, because the hookers are in the mofo Twitter house now.

Model Listing

Well, it has been 25 days since I published the advertisements and have received only three applications. I think it is a done deal, so no original content for now. On the other hand, I have purchased a handful of premium themes for the new link site.

I am setting up the site now and will start editing the themes this week. The link site is just around the corner, but I am still waiting for the Pligg theme to be offered in dark-pink. Let us see how it goes.
