GM has announced pricing of the Volt. Are you ready? The base model price is $41,000 and the fully loaded model is a whopping $44,600. Are you kidding? I can purchase a fully loaded Toyota Prius for $15,000 less. Why should consumers buy a Volt?

Here is a prediction. GM will rely heavily on the $7,500 federal tax credit to pimp the Volt to consumers. The 18-month "pilot" program will sell less than 10,000 cars. General Motors will discontinue the model or cancel the national rollout. Any bets?

No Cruising Zone

Production of the Chrysler PT Cruiser ends today. I never liked the model and am shocked the model line lasted an entire decade. Even more surprising, is that for a while it was the best-selling Chrysler model. Are you kidding me?

Anyway, another car model bites the dust. Do not cry little cowboy. Chrysler milked the PT Cruiser for all it is worth. It sold over 1.3 million of the mini-hearse, so it is time to move on to bigger and hopefully better things. RIP PT.

Bling Bling

I frequently visit auto enthusiast forums to check out the latest car models and customizing trends. Damn! There are some great looking rides out there! Classic, Muscle, Import, etc. I like them all, but what is up with the trend for chrome and gold plating the entire car?

The first plated car I saw was a Benz from Dubai. I did not think much of it at the time, but I am seeing more and more plated cars. Is this the latest 'little big man' status symbol? I like the car, but the chrome has to go. Thoughts?

Liberty Lambo

Asanti Wheels has a badass Murcielago in their vehicle gallery. As a matter of fact, it is the same one I have seen in their published ads. The Verde Ithaca (flue green) paint with black accents looks hot, but what caught my eye is the unusually low profile (tucking rears).

Alright, who owns this beast? Check out the license plate, it reads, "LB Performance" as in Japanese tuning company Liberty Walk. The company sells various parts for the Murcielago, including an air suspension kit to achieve that badass low profile. Nice!

Hummer for Sale Again!

Yawn! Hummer is on the market again. If you recall, GM sold the Hummer brand to Sichuan Tengzhong of China. Well, the deal fell through and GM plans to shut down the line. If you ever dreamed of owning your own automotive brand, contact General Motors now.

The original deal with Sichuan Tengzhong was valued at 150 million, but think you can score a nice deal. I am not holding my breath for GM to find another buyer. I think it's the end of another car line. I wonder how that Hybrid Hummer is coming along.

Hybrid Honda

Check out what Honda is pimping at the Tokyo Motor Show 2009. The Honda CR-Z concept aka the 2011 Honda CR-Z Hybrid Sports Coupe. This is going to be the first hybrid sports car to make it to production. If Honda prices it at 25k, it will sell like crack!

I recall seeing the "original" concept a couple years ago and now, I read that it is going to production. Honda is all over the hybrid technologies. My next car is definitely a Honda or Toyota, period! The front end and LED lights remind me of the Audi R8, nice!

Have you seen the lame Saturn commercial where the Saturn employee boasts that Saturn knows how to build cars, etc? Well, it appears that nobody wants to buy their automobiles as GM has just kicked them to the curb and is shutting down the automobile line.

Can GM find a buyer at the last minute ala the Hummer deal? Bueller, Bueller? I think it is a done deal, so kiss another automobile line goodbye. I wonder if the Saturn dealer franchise is going to liquidate inventories like Dodge? If so, wait a few weeks and buy a Saturn!

Hot Hybrid

All aboard the bandwagon! Every manufacturer has or is jumping on hybrid technologies. It is about damn time, because we need to look for alternate fuels and get out of the strong arm grasp of big oil.

Anyway, check out the BMW concept shown at the Frankfurt Auto Show. MPG is a modest 62.5 and can reach 62 mph in under 5 seconds. No more concept cars, we want to see the real deal. Hmm, I wonder how that Hybrid Hummer is coming along?

Parallel Parking

Earlier this evening, I was rollin' as I saw a woman trying to parallel park her car. She spent 2-3 minutes trying to park her compact car in a parking space two times the length of her car. She could have driven straight in given the amount of available space.

By the way, she is not a blonde. Ha! I think parallel parking is one of those skills that either one can or cannot master. Another reason I was rollin' was because it reminded me of the time I went to lunch with Kman. He jammed his car onto the curb with mad skills. Nice!
