I use cheap $5 gold-plated HDMI cables for the televisions, game consoles, cable boxes, and whatever else needs a HDMI cable. I do not fall for the "brand name" cable scam. A cable is a cable is a cable. Read this PC Magazine Lab article for more information.

Restocking Fees

I just wanted to remind consumers that Fry's Electronics has a 15% restocking fee on some returned opened items. Hmm, that was a mouthful. If you are purchasing electronics, you may want to shop somewhere else. Costco and Best Buy come to mind. Avoid the fees!

RIM BlackPad

Here is another tablet PC related post. Research In Motion (RIM) plans to launch their own tablet PC in November. The tablet will have similar specifications as the iPad, but will have a 9.7" inch high resolution screen.

The RIM BlackPad will run the BlackBerry OS 6 operating system and is 'rumored' to include both front and rear cameras. The tablet will offer both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, but no cellular network option. Alright, who will be next?

Update: the BlackPad will be available with a 7.0" inch screen, 1GHz processor, 2 cameras, and offer Flash 10.1 support out-of-the-box.

Now that is a catchy title! Here are two quick Apple-related tid-bits. I must be getting lazy, because I am doing a 2-for-1 combo. Anyway, iPad pre-order numbers have dropped way off and total pre-orders might inch pass the 500k mark by ship date. Is the hype over?

Apple slice number two is regarding the L5 Remote, which turns your iPhone or iPod Touch into a Universal Remote. The remote device was supposed to ship in February, but no word on its release date. What happened? I was considering buying one for the Touch.

Hmm, Apple listen up. This might be something cool to integrate into future versions of the iPhone and iPod Touch. Maybe not, but it would be convenient to change the channel and control other electronic devices from the Touch. Alright, the two slice limit is up.
