Verizon Galaxy Tab

Well, the "Red" network was not far behind. The Samsung Galaxy Tab went on sale today at Verizon. Before you jump, check out their pricing. Verizon is selling the Galaxy Tab at FULL retail price (599.99) with no discounts for 2-year or 1-year contracts. Bend over!

T-Mobile Galaxy Tab

The Samsung Galaxy Tab went on sale today at T-Mobile. Both Verizon and Sprint will begin selling the tablet later this week. I do not know about and do not care about AT&T, so do not ask me. Screw those mofos.

Anyway, the Samsung Galaxy Tab is available for 399.99 with a 2-year contract. I assume the other carriers will offer similar prices. The other carriers have not announced plan pricing and fees, so you may want to hold off buying that shining new tablet.

Android On Top

Android is "Moving On Up" just like the Jeffersons. The NPD Group reports that Android is installed on 44% of all smartphones purchased in Q3. The data does not include corporate or non-U.S. purchases.

Android's OS was installed in 44 percent of all smartphones purchased in Q3, an increase of 11 percentage points since Q2; Apple iOS held relatively steady versus last quarter, rising one percentage point to 23 percent; RIM OS, fell to third position, declining from 28 percent to 22 percent.

Smartphone Market Share, Q3 2010

  • Android 44% (+11% gain since Q2)
  • Apple 23% (+1% gain since Q2)
  • RIM 22% (-6% loss since Q2)

Save $50 on Epic

The mobile gear heads know that Sprint has released its 2nd 4G phone, so I will get to the point. Both Amazon and Let's Talk are selling the new Samsung Epic 4G for $199.99 with a 2-year service contract. I do not know if upgrades apply, so read the fine print.

That is a $50.00 savings over Sprint. Not a big discount, but a discount nonetheless. I got a sneak peek of the Epic and it is badass. Which 4G phone are you going to buy? I think gear heads will choose the EVO, but I could be wrong.

iFind My Phone

Do you own an Android smartphone and want an application similar to "Find My iPhone" for iPhone? Lifehacker has published a "how-to" guide for Android users. The solution requires the Tasker automation application and a few minutes to roll some custom tasks.

Wait. The best part is yet to come. iPhone users have to pay a $99.00 annual fee to use the MobileMe service. Android users pay only a one-time fee of $6.00 +/- for Tasker. Nice!

Droid 2 Deal

I stumbled on a Droid 2 deal, so I am passing it along. Let's Talk is offering a $100.00 instant discount (ends 08/16/10) off the Droid 2. If you select an eligible service plan, you can use coupon code 25RAFPCVER1 for another $25.00 off the $99.99 discounted price.

The coupon is working at the time of this post, but check it before you buy. Also, read all of the fine print too. Note tax is added for orders shipped to CA or TX and is based on the full retail price of the phone.

Smartphone Quickies

Where do we start? This is a quickie post, so here we go. Verizon has released the Droid 2, AT&T will begin selling the Dell Streak tomorrow Friday the 13th, and iPhone users have the most sex partners (according to OKCupid).

Hold on, wait a minute. Are you telling me that if I get the "Jesus" phone, I will be tapping more ass? I was planning on buying an Android-based smartphone, but if it means less booty, that plan is out the window. Apple store, here I CUM! Bruahaha!

Flash on iPhone 4

Flash has been available on jailbroken iPhones for a while, but now it is available for iPhone 4 devices. Yup, Grant Pannell has compiled the Frash alpha code for the latest iPhone. Get the precompiled binaries from his site or check out the detailed build instructions.

Frash is a port of the Adobe Flash runtime for Android to the iPhone, using a compatibility layer, by comex…Frash can currently run most Flash programs natively in the MobileSafari browser. Frash uses a multi-process model similar to Chrome on the desktop, so a crash in the Frash/Flash plugin doesn’t take down the browser. Video and keyboard input are currently not supported.
