Knight Rider Movie

Movie, Review, Television No Comments »

Ok, curiosity got the best of me. I watched the trailers on YouTube weeks ago and tonight I watched the two-hour premiere of the Knight Rider movie on NBC. Well, it was not great and it was not bad. How is that for commitment?

The only reason I watched the movie was to see the Ford Mustang-based KITT. For the old skool KITT fans, we know the original KITT was an ‘82 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. The black Mustang looked hot, but it seemed out of place in the movie.

I, for one, believe that KITT was the star of the show. Hasselhoff was a supporting actor in the series! Okay, back to the Mustang. I did not like the double-decker wing or the stripes on the car. Also, missing were the digital dash and Turbo Boost features … boo!

The Mustang is a Ford icon, but it cannot replace the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am for KITT. I think a 5th-generation Firebird Trans Am would have been a better choice, but again what do I know? Oh, Hasselhoff had a cameo as Michael Knight … of course.

I was curious to see if my prediction about the Alvin & the Chipmunks movie was correct. I predicted that 20th Century-Fox would leave the movie in theaters until it broke the $200M mark and then rush it to DVD.

Well, I was wrong. 20th Century-Fox is milking all it can from the movie. To date, the movie has grossed an outrageous $210,108,277. This places the movie at number #74 for all-time US movies. Showing at a theater near you.

Another Hollywood Gem

I saw the trailer for “Meet the Spartans”, a new release from Jason Friedburg and the Alka Seltzer. The writers, directors, and producers of such hollywood “L”osers as “Scary Movie” and “Epic Movie” are targeting 300 now. These movies are sooo stupid, there may be some funny parts worth watching. Hmm, should we plan a movie night or wait for the DVD?

Are The Rumors True?

Alvin & the Chipmunks is positioned to gross over $200 million dollars, yikes! Who is watching these movies? I just read a story that a sequel is in the works, are you kidding me? I can see it now … “The Chipettes” sequel and “Making the Band” or “Battle of the Bands” Chipmunk Edition for the finale in the Chipmunk Trilogy.

The movie was released on Friday, December 14, 2007 and has a total gross of $187,740,000 to date. This weekend it grossed $9,100,000, a drop of -41.5% from the previous week. I am predicting Fox will leave it in theaters until it breaks the $200,000,000 mark and then rush it to DVD before the hype fades.

20th Century-Fox has produced some “L”osers … do you think Fox may be interested in the “Wassup Jose, Party Like A Rock Star!” or “Wassup Jose, Drop It Like It’s Hot!” movies? I can see the lines forming now!
