Foursquaropoly

Video of the Day. Foursquare meets Monopoly. Foursquaropoly is an application that turns your city into the monopoly board. Game play appears to be similar to the board game. The game is currently in development. No release date has been announced. Interesting.

Hosts File Switcher

If you use a custom hosts file to block ads and other junk, check this out. Do you find that you need to disable the ad blocking, but hate the "manual" disable process? Well no more, grab the hosts switcher utility and get your switch on. I use the utility often, nice.

Use Protection

Nope, I am not referring to that type of protection. I am referring to computer protection, specifically anti-virus protection. Why do some people neglect to install anti-virus software on their computers? It is a no brainer, use one or risk infection or possible data loss.

I should note that anti-virus software is not 100% effective, but it will provide some level of protection. It is "better than nothing" as they say. Keep the anti-virus definition database current, schedule weekly system scans, and enable on-access scanning. End PSA.

Rescue CD List

Yesterday, I published a blurb about the AVG Rescue CD. Here are some other solutions, in case you want to kick the tires. There are others, but I think they are commercial systems (i.e. paid). I am cheap mofo, so I use the freebies to get my system restore on.

AVG Rescue CD

In the interest of sharing handy-dandy tools comes another nice utility. AVG has released a rescue CD, which can perform a clean boot from CD or USB. It includes a suite of recovery tools, anti-virus, and anti-spyware software.

The AVG rescue CD is free of charge compliments of our friends @ AVG. If you are the go to person for virus removal, go download your copy now. I have already downloaded both the ISO and RAR distributions. Thanks AVG and checkout a how-to guide.
